Dear reader,

Thank you for taking an interest in my story.

I am writing this blog to share my approach to cooking, I have a full-time job, I love to cook and I love home cooked food. I love inviting friends over for soirees with ginger & lemongrass chai (tea) and an array of dishes – a mix of traditional Indian and contemporary dishes.

I believe that nourishment is the fuel for and a reward of the hard work we put into our daily lives. Nourishment begins with wholesome food which to me is home cooked food. The quality of ingredients matters as much as the mindset of the person cooking.

I grew up watching my mom cook fresh food at every meal. We ate out only on birthdays, my parents' wedding anniversary and if there was something special to celebrate. When I moved away from home 15 years ago to study and to start my professional career, I found it hard to eat outside for every meal. I would put on weight or feel bloated or not feel satisfied even if my stomach was full. And, my wallet was always light!

I started cooking on the weekends for the whole week. It was better but it wasn't good enough. Over time I figured out how to cook functional meals within 30 mins so that I could eat fresh food every meal with limited overhead.

Until some years ago, I cooked mostly Indian meals. Now whenever I travel to a new country I take cooking lessons. I have realized that I don't need too many new ingredients to cook across cuisines. These ingredients and the cuisines they transform into are a metaphor for life. Life gives us a similar range ingredients, it's up to us to decide whether we make soup, sauce or soufflé.

In this blog, I'll explore different recipes using the same base ingredients with minor variations. Join me on this adventure. I'd love to learn from you and share with you how to cook functional yet flavorful vegetarian meals and clean-up quickly afterwards.
Wishing you nourishment and joy,
Yours truly,
Madhavi
